B class gourmet paradise!! @Highway rest areas in Japan

Have you ever heard B class gourmets? Japanese people enjoy casual food culture so called “B-class gourmet” cuisine in reference to the higher priced “A-class” restaurants. It’s like a food truck,  MacDonald or a ramen shop in the US. Most of B-class gourmet are inexpensive, convenient, and delicious! When you go to a highway rest areas in Japan, you can definitely enjoy them. Today, I went to the highway rest areas so I will report them!

Outside of the food court, there are small food trucks and selling B-class gourmet.

They say they became a champion on B-class gourmet competition. It’s called MISOPOTATO. $2.

It’s a skewer with 4 pieces of potato tempura. Sweet miso sauce on top. It’s hot and so yum!

Inside of food court, you can get a shoyu (soy sauce based) ramen with chasu (pork) bowl lunch special! It’s only $7.

Rolling sushi restaurant, too!!

The best B-class gourmet today is Green Tea soft cream. It looks froyo but it’s not.

Today, in Japan, local B class gourmets have become so popular and competitive. They are trying to promote their local meals using local products to attract tourists and interestingly, That’s why all B class gourmets are delicious. If you go to any highway rest area all over Japan, you can enjoy local B class gourmets there. Just stop by any rest areas. It’s totally different from that in the US. It’s safe, clean and comfortable!
