Kumano Shrine makes you feel fun and relaxed! in Kawagoe

2014.01.08

Do you know Ashi-tsubo? Ashi means foot. Tsubo means pressure point. It is said that human body especially sole has so many pressure points that make your body relax, release tension, and lessen pain. This picture is not an art. This is stone pressure street at Kumano Shrine in Japan. If you walk on the alley without your shoes, the stone press your pressure point that will make you feel painful. but later you can tell your body feel lighter!

The variety of design on the alley. some of them are so sharp that you can’t even walk.

precinct yard@Kumano Shrine. People tend to make a wish here, but actually all you have to do here is to join your palms together and just say your name, address and say thank you without speaking loud. That’s all.

What makes this shrine unique is this game, fortune wanage, playing quoits. The rope rings are thrown over onto a spike. Signs above the spike say ”luck with money” “luck with work” “luck with love” “luck with health” and “luck with your wish.”

You can wash your changes at this pond.

You can also enjoy a written fortune. If you take a bad luck, you leave it with tying it up to this string here. Don’t bring bad luck to your home!

I got a good luck! yay!!

Oh, by the way, when you try Ashi tsubo stone, don’t forget to take off your shoes. Red sign says “Don’t put your shoes on!” This is Japanese decent culture.
